Team Spirit secured a direct berth to IEM Krakow 2026, but G2’s form heading into Group A makes this far from a comfortable matchup, as our G2 vs Team Spirit betting preview breaks down the odds for bettors looking to place wagers on this hotly-anticipated bout.

IEM Krakow 2026 is nearing its business end, with group finals setting the stage before the playoff bracket takes shape. The first of those matchups pits G2 against Team Spirit. While the two teams entered the event from very different positions, their runs have looked strikingly similar, each methodically shutting down opponents.

Whether Team Spirit’s higher VRS ranking proves fitting at this stage remains an open question.

G2 vs Team Spirit match preview

Betting tip: Team Spirit’s strong run looks set to carry into the Group A final, though G2 can stay competitive if the veto breaks in their favor. If it doesn’t, the matchup points toward a clean 2–0 win for Spirit.

Our G2 vs Team Spirit pick: Total maps to be under 2.5 @ 1.72.

G2 vs Team Spirit in-depth match analysis

Team Spirit gained entry into IEM Krakow 2026 through its fourth-place VRS ranking in Europe, and wins over Astralis and NAVI have underlined exactly why it sits that high. So far, the Russian core has played disciplined Counter-Strike, though there remains some risk of stumbling against a confident G2 Esports lineup.

G2 arrived after a slow 2025 with few notable results aside from BLAST Open Fall 2025, but its early showings at IEM Kraków 2026 suggest a strong turnaround. Unbeaten across four matches so far, G2 look sharper and more composed than they have in recent months.

All five players have posted strong numbers for G2, particularly Matúš “MATYS” Šimko and Álvaro “SunPayus” García, with both nearing a 1.50 rating against Passion UA and MongolZ while highlighting G2’s improved individual form.

For CS2 betting purposes, Team Spirit looks like the safer pick in this matchup, entering the Group A final at IEM Krakow 2026 as the more complete team both statistically and structurally. Spirit has been posting strong win rates on its comfort picks, particularly Dust2 and Ancient, where its round control and post–opening-kill conversion remain consistent. G2’s pool is more polarized. Dust2 has been its most reliable map and gives it a realistic chance to contest the series, especially when early duels go its way.

Mirage and Ancient are playable but far less convincing, while Inferno and especially Overpass remain clear liabilities based on event results. If G2 is forced onto Overpass, the numbers heavily favor Spirit.

The veto will likely revolve around removing Overpass and Mirage early. If G2 secures Dust2 and avoids its weaker maps, the squad could pressure Spirit into longer games. Otherwise, Spirit’s stronger map depth points toward a controlled series, with a 2–0 outcome remaining the most likely result. Such a sweep would certainly speak to why Spirit is one of the favorites to win the event, as per our IEM Krakow betting preview.

G2 vs Team Spirit picks and predictions

G2 showed flashes of form at recent events such as Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu 2025 and the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025, only to fall short once pressure mounted. Their flawless run so far isn’t a sign of stability, especially given similar patterns when facing elite opponents like Team Spirit.

Unless the map veto breaks perfectly and MATYS and SunPayus sustain their current level, IEM Krakow 2026 is unlikely to end any differently for G2. That context makes Team Spirit the safer betting option heading into the Group A finals matchup.
