After losing two games in a row at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026, G2 Esports finds itself in an elimination round against HEROIC. Will it even be able to beat a team that’s currently out of the top 20? Our match preview for this clash between G2 and HEROIC breaks down the odds.

G2 may still be on Valve’s invite list thanks to its ranking in Europe, but its recent results haven’t matched the team’s old reputation. The same applies to HEROIC, which has struggled to recapture its peak form at recent events.

This match-up will decide who gets to live another day in Cluj-Napoca, and we believe HEROIC will make G2 work for the win despite entering as underdogs.

G2 vs HEROIC match overview

CS2 betting tip: G2’s recent losses have at least come in competitive series, while HEROIC has looked shaky even in its wins. The lack of a true carry on HEROIC’s side also gives G2 the edge heading into this matchup.

G2 vs HEROIC match analysis

The skill gap between G2 and HEROIC looks too wide to make HEROIC a real value pick, even for higher-risk bettors. Both teams may share the same elimination bracket, but the nature of their losses tells a different story.

In both defeats, G2 kept things competitive and managed to take a map each time, including against a strong Vitality side. HEROIC, meanwhile, looked far easier to break down in its respective losses to FaZe and B8.

An upset could make HEROIC a value pick for esports betting fans if the team looked more cohesive than G2, especially since synergy has been G2’s biggest issue lately. The European side hasn’t found a consistent performer, often relying on different players to carry its rare wins. That said, the same problem applies to HEROIC, which has also struggled with consistency and a clear leadership presence.

Against newer names at the top of the pro scene like Älımjan “Alkaren” Bıtımbai, G2 skipper Nemanja “huNter” Kovač should have enough experience to keep the squad alive another day. That’s not because G2 has looked dominant lately, but more because HEROIC’s overall roster still appears weaker on paper.

HEROIC has struggled to produce strong individual numbers at recent events, aside from occasional standout performances from Yasin “xfl0ud” Koç and Tim “susp” Ångström, including in a win win over 3DMAX here at PGL Cluj-Napoca. The isolated highs like these don’t do much to strengthen HEROIC’s overall case.

G2 hasn’t exactly been lifting trophies lately, but it has stayed relevant with consistent top-10 finishes at S-tier events over the last year. The roster has also had enough time to build some cohesion, and we’ve seen steady impact from Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko, Álvaro “SunPayus” García, and Matúš “MATYS” Šimko. That added stability further suggests G2 is the safer pick for this Round 4 series.

G2 vs HEROIC picks and predictions

G2 looks to be in a good position to make quick work of HEROIC and close this series in a 2–0 sweep. For the series to stretch longer, several variables would have to swing heavily in HEROIC’s favor, which feels unlikely considering their only real breakthrough came when a single player posted an unsustainably high 1.8 rating in early Cluj-Napoca’s swiss stage.

HEROIC hasn’t replicated that level of performance since its B8 match, and an ongoing lack of consistency suggests the outcome is unlikely to shift here in a meeting with G2.
