MSI bracket stage G2 vs TES prediction: G2 Esports

After Karmine Corp’s crushing defeat, the hopes of Europe turn to G2 Esports as they face Top Esports. For the LPL, this is their debut match as they seek to defend their current title of best region. The last time, TES won 3-1, while G2 went 3-0 the year before. For this year, here’s our G2 vs TES MSI 2026 prediction.

G2 Esports vs Top Esports match analysis

Immediately, there’s one singular fact about this match. The winning team will be awarded with a harder path through the bracket.

Assuming that all matches go as expected, the loser will drop to the lower bracket where they will face Team Secret Whales, then LYON, before reaching round 3. If they win, they will instead go up against Hanwha Life Esports, then get their second chance against Bilibili Gaming or T1 in the lower bracket. Meaning that they will have to go through one of the top three teams in order to reach round 3.

Obviously, those are two teams who aim for the trophy instead of a higher pity placement. Meaning that they will give it their all and not consider throwing.

G2’s playstyle is centered around the jungle. Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan is at the center of all the early game action, and every other G2 player is a potential carry for him to play around. Against slow, methodical teams who aren’t used to the team’s level of action, this works wonders.

However, TES is no such team. Top Esports will happily respond to every fight and keep the pace up.

TES’s performance largely depends on the form of their players on the day. The world champions in the bot lane and jungle can be the best in their respective roles on their good days. There’s no telling if that’s the version of them that’ll show up, but if it is, G2 has their work cut out for them.

Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang has already stopped the strongest iteration of G2 in their tracks at the grand final of Worlds 2019. Now, he’s likely to repeat that feat at MSI 2026.

G2 Esports vs Top Esports betting picks and predictions

G2’s biggest hope lies in the fact that TES eventually always chokes at internationals. Unfortunately, it happens once the stakes become high. In round 1, G2 should face a full-power Top Esports that they stand little chance against.
