In a somewhat surprising turn, G2 Esports finds itself fighting for survival in ESL Pro League Season 21’s group stage against GamerLegion.
G2 Esports ranks among the favorites to compete in basically any event it competes in. Unfortunately, its draws in ESL Pro League have been downright brutal. The squad has taken on The MongolZ and NaVi, and even its “easy” matches have come against formidable opposition.
It’s now in an elimination match against GamerLegion, a newer face to the tier-one scene. How do these teams match up from a betting perspective, though?
WINNER TO PLAYOFFS! G2 vs NAVI – HIGHLIGHTS – ESL Pro League Season 21 | CS2
G2 Esports’ Counter-Strike team will face GamerLegion in round five of ESL Pro League Season 21’s second group stage. Both teams have a 2-2 record, so this is a true elimination match. The winner gets to advance to the event’s playoffs.
G2 Esports reestablished itself as one of the world’s best Counter-Strike teams by placing top-four in the Shanghai Major. Since then, its results haven’t been all that impressive, with an underwhelming showing in IEM Katowice 2025. It’s looking to regain its momentum by rebounding from its loss to NaVi and heading to the playoffs in ESL Pro League Season 21. Here’s the G2 Esports roster:
G2 is shaky on Ancient, but is tough everywhere else. G2 may or may not be actively avoiding Train, though that could change in this match.
GamerLegion may have transcended its longtime tier-two standing and become cemented as a high-end Counter-Strike 2 team. This has been seen in multiple events, with strong finishes in numerous tier-two tournaments and a top-eight showing at IEM Katowice 2025. GamerLegion has been digging its way out of a 0-2 start to the group stage, going from losses against The MongolZ and Pain Gaming to wins over TyLoo and SAW.
Here is GamerLegion’s roster:
GamerLegion has been extremely strong on Inferno, going 11-1 on the map over the last three months. The team is just about even on Mirage, Ancient, and Anubis during that stretch, but has gone 0-2 on Train thus far.
LOSER IS OUT! SAW vs GamerLegion – HIGHLIGHTS – ESL Pro League Season 21 | CS2
G2 Esports and GamerLegion have not competed against each other since 2022. As such, there’s no real head-to-head data for these two teams. Both teams have undergone several roster changes since then, with GamerLegion having a completely different roster from those days.
G2 Esports is a big favorite over GamerLegion, with the moneylines standing at 1.24 vs 4.02. That suggests the bookies are mostly certain that G2 has this one in the bag.
G2 Esports will likely beat GamerLegion decisively. GamerLegion’s rise is impressive and worthy of praise, but the team hasn’t shown that it’s capable of taking down elites like G2 Esports.
