FURIA are the Americas first seed and were dealt a rough hand, as they were matched up against Paper Rex in the first round of the playoffs. Arguably the current tournament favorites, Paper Rex won the series, but FURIA still put up a decent fight, stealing Paper Rex’s map pick of Haven.
BBL Esports’ situation wasn’t too different, as the inexperienced squad was tasked with facing the reigning champions, NRG, in the very first round. The Turkish lineup put up a commendable effort, taking the series the distance. In the decider, quadruple overtime was required before NRG snatched the win.

Overall, these are two promising squads that lost against two of the strongest and most experienced teams at the event. It’s a shame that one of them has to bow out this early, but that’s just how brutal the VCT Masters format is.
In terms of the veto, BBL set Bind as their perma-ban, and FURIA often ban it first as well. This means BBL are likely forced to be the ones removing Bind, while FURIA get the option to ban another map, such as Pearl – BBL’s go-to map pick.
This gives FURIA a slight veto advantage, despite BBL being the Valorant betting favorite in this matchup. The maps pretty much levels out the series, so we’re expecting a very tight match.
