Has a Fortnite Collaboration Revealed the Kingdom Hearts 4 Release Date?

Kingdom Hearts 4 is coming to Fortnite

There is currently very little information in the public domain about the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 4 from Square Enix. We know the game exists, and we know it’s going to be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, even if there isn’t even a release date yet.

There’s been no trailer yet, either, just a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it teaser from a Nintendo Direct. But a Fortnite collaboration leak, of all things, may have just given the best idea yet as to when this long-awaited game will be released.

Fortnite leaked collaboration may hint at Kingdom Hearts 4 launch date

Kingdom Hearts 4 was officially announced in 2022 by Square Enix. Between then and June 2026, it existed in that liminal space between announcement and true confirmation. There was speculation as to whether or not the game truly was going to come out, much like Hollow Knight: Silksong and others before it.

Then, the Nintendo Direct in June 2026 showed off a brief updated look at the game, confirming that it was indeed coming out. The teaser didn’t even provide a release window. Sometimes, games will be shown off with “2027” or another year as the target window, but patient fans didn’t even get that.

However, Fortnite is about to collaborate with Kingdom Hearts. According to renowned leaker HYPEX, Epic Games has worked on a collaboration in Rocket League and will eventually bring it to Fortnite. It is expected to come “later this month (August)”.

Though not always, Epic Games likes to do collaborations with movies, games, and other things when it’s most relevant. The recent Spider-Man: Brand New Day collaboration dropped alongside the release of the film, for example.

Epic Games also has access to Kingdom Hearts 4 through the Store — this is one of two ways it is available for PC players. There is a relationship there and all of this points to one thing: that Fortnite may be crossing over with Kingdom Hearts 4 right when the game’s at its most relevant.

In other words, the leak has certainly hinted at a surprise release earlier than anyone expected. It could be this month, although that’s far from guaranteed, but maybe a confirmed release window is on the horizon.

What’s in the collaboration?

The leak didn’t just reveal Fortnite x Kingdom Hearts. Leakers also uncovered plenty of what will actually be included in the crossover. It is expected that Sora will be an outfit. However, HYPEX also claimed that there is also a file for the Kingdom Hearts soldier in the collaboration.

As of now, he is reduced to a car decal, but HYPEX speculated that the character could be a Sidekick. There’s renewed interest in Sidekicks lately. Other decals for cars hint at the rest of the characters, including Sora, Mickey Mouse (which makes sense given Epic’s work with Disney), the keyblade as a pickaxe, and more, but all is to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
