Fnatic founder denies rumors of organization being sold

Fnatic founder and CEO Sam Mathews denied that the organization is set to be sold in the coming weeks.
It wouldn’t be far-fetched to say that Fnatic has seen much better days. The team’s League of Legends and CS2 rosters have been seeing multiple recent changes, and the VALORANT team’s performance has been mixed this year.
Considering the team’s performance, it didn’t surprise many when reports that the organization was being sold started circulating online. Those reports may have been wildly exaggerated, as Fnatic’s CEO and founder directly denied them.
It looks like Fnatic isn’t going anywhere
According to Sam Mathews, Fnatic is only in investment conversations, despite having had acquisition offers.
Mathews stated that the organization is here to stay and that rumors of Fnatic being sold have been reported thrice over the last six months alone. He was likely referring to when the British press reported that Fnatic was exploring a sale valuation back in December 2025.
Despite most of the organization’s esports team not finding much success, Fnatic remains one of the strongest names in the European professional gaming scene. The organization has multiple dedicated fans who have even gone as far as to get tattoos of its logo, showcasing the loyalty Fnatic enjoys.

While Fnatic seemingly isn’t being sold any time soon, that doesn’t mean that there won’t be changes. Mathews confirmed that Fnatic is in investment conversations, which suggests that new shareholders may join the fray. New shareholders bring new expectations, which could result in some key factors being changed.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that Fnatic will change. Mathews stated that the logo wouldn’t change, so that’s a plus for many fans. The Valorant roster has also been performing significantly better than Fnatic’s other esports rosters, which suggests that there may not be too many changes from that front.
While things seemingly haven’t been decided yet, Mathews did say that Fnatic has received acquisition offers. It’s unknown whether these offers will be accepted, but the CEO and founder’s recent tweet suggests it’s unlikely to happen soon.
What esports games is Fnatic a part of?
Fnatic has multiple rosters across different esports games, though not all of them have been performing equally well.
The team is most known for its current Valorant roster, which made waves in the gaming scene in 2025. The team’s 2026 could have been better so far, but players such as Boaster and Alfajer are generally loved in the Valorant community.
Things somewhat fall apart when mentioning the other rosters. The organization’s Rocket League and Apex Legends teams haven’t done anything significant in a while, and its CS2 team recently said farewell to KRMIZ.
Fnatic’s League of Legends roster has arguably seen the worst of it. It was the only team to get eliminated from the 2025 World Championship without winning a single match. Despite numerous roster changes, the team hasn’t really found its footing. Some new ideas could actually do good for the organization, especially if it wants to stay in the long term.
