Emily “ExtraEmily” Zhang was recently in the news for getting banned from Twitch for the third time, and the streamer has now taken the step of hiring a driver after another brush with the law.

2026 has been an intense year for ExtraEmily so far. The streamer was accused of viewbotting and took a break for mental health reasons. The creator returned again shortly after, but was once again receiving backlash from the community after she almost crashed into a car while being distracted. Twitch banned the creator for this, as the entire incident was caught on a livestream. However, ExtraEmily returned within 24 hours, and the community expressed its outrage toward both Twitch and the streamer.

Following the incident, ExtraEmily recently introduced her driver during a stream, suggesting she is making changes after members of the community called on her to take responsibility for her actions before something worse could happen.

ExtraEmily reveals she won’t be behind the wheel in IRL streams

This recent distracted driving incident has made many fans and even fellow creator Zach “Asmongold” Hoyt demand that Twitch ban driving on stream for all creators. ExtraEmily had acknowledged her mistake in a stream and stated that she was going to learn from what happened. The creator also stated that she would avoid driving on the stream and also keep her chat off so she doesn’t get distracted.

Soon after, ExtraEmily revealed that she was pulled over by the sheriff off-stream for not having renewed her vehicle registration for two years. The streamer stated that she was scared and unsure what had happened, but the sheriff let her off with a warning. She went on to promise viewers that she would get the car registered the following week. ExtraEmily then introduced viewers to her driver, Jacob.

Asmongold was among the streamers to comment on the development, praising ExtraEmily for making what he described as a good decision that would help keep both her and others safe. While reacting to her stream during one of his own broadcasts, he jokingly said, “I’m not driving,” when Emily asked Jacob about his qualifications. Asmongold added that he was happy for both ExtraEmily and Jacob.

ExtraEmily also revealed that Jacob isn’t just a random hire — he is also Asmongold’s podcast producer. She reportedly hired Jacob in 2025 and previously announced that he would oversee her large-scale events in 2026, which may explain why he has also taken on driving duties.

Some viewers have criticized ExtraEmily for hiring a driver rather than addressing the seemingly dangerous behaviours that caused the issues in the first place. However, some argued that she has now ensured that she can continue her popular IRL Twitch output whilst reducing the risk of being distracted.
