ExtraEmily announces break from streaming — here’s why
ExtraEmily announces break from streaming — here's why
Popular streamer Emily “ExtraEmily” Zhang has announced that she is taking a break from streaming following viewbotting allegations.
ExtraEmily began content creation with IRL, JustChatting, and gaming streams, quickly gaining attention and she was also associated with the
content organization
One True King for some time. While she eventually left the organization, ExtraEmily continued solo content creation and has maintained a consistent viewer base that regularly watches her streams.
ExtraEmily was recently accused of viewbotting
after fans found something suspicious in her livestream, and now she has announced a break from streaming.
Fans are speculating that the two things may be linked
and are questioning whether she is stepping back from content creation to avoid addressing the allegations.
ExtraEmily revealed in an April 21 livestream that she is exhausted mentally and is taking an immediate break from streaming in order “to heal”. The creator elaborated that all her socials will go dark, and she will be away from the internet. She also stated that this is the first time she is taking a break for longer than one week, but
doesn’t plan on quitting streaming. The streamer said she doesn’t want to leave the internet forever, as she loves chatting with her community, and may do a podcast or Patreon in the future.

It’s worth noting that ExtraEmily announced this break just a few days after she was allegedly caught viewbotting. The streaming community reacted quite harshly to the streamer’s alleged use of bots, with many criticizing her content and demanding that
Twitch take action
against ExtraEmily.
The American creator hasn’t publicly addressed the allegations, but did share that she was talking to a number of people, including Nick “Nmplol” Polom. The former OTK streamer said she had received a lot of good advice from Nmplol and has been picking the brains of others as well.
ExtraEmily’s viewbotting allegations remain unconfirmed, but many viewers have speculated that the backlash ExtraEmily received may have been the reason she is having a difficult time, and have wished the streamer luck in her healing. Others have been more cynical, claiming the streamer is taking a break so the viewbotting allegations can die and will return once things are back to normal — it remains to be seen.
