Kai Cenat advertised Streamer University as an event that would take place at a real college campus with real professors teaching aspiring content creators who would take on the roles of students, but the response has been divided and drama has ensued.
Kai Cenat is one of the biggest trending streamers in the scene. He’s particularly known for collaborating with mainstream celebrities and other popular content creators. The streamer likes to do things on a large scale, as is evident by his Mafiathon 2 Twitch subathon that featured a mansion and multiple guest appearances by popular big names in the streaming world and beyond.
Kai expressed his intent to launch Streamer University, a classroom for up-and-coming streamers where they can learn about the game of content creation. The event was to feature multiple established streamers as the professors who would teach the lucky talents. Streamer University has received a mixed response since and Kai Cenat has already stated he would never do it again.
Some fans and even other streamers have met Kai Cenat and his Streamer University with backlash for multiple reasons, leading its creator to promise never to run such an event again.
In May, Kai Cenat announced the launch of his Streamer University and that it would take place in a real-life college campus. The event was touted as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that would be special because more novice content creators would learn from established streamers. The reality was significantly different than what had been laid out, and both fans and streamers were bashing Streamer Univeristy from the get-go.
Louis “LosPollosTV” Sammartino’s father was one of the first to call out Kai a “cash grab,” saying that the university was a scam. Kai Cenat responded directly to those allegations, which led to LosPollosTV and his father apologizing publicly. Felix “xQc” Lengyel also called out the university and claimed the courses being taught were “useless.” He mockingly said that streamers should instead be taught “reacting, stalling, fake drama, and clip farming.”
Others called out Kai Cenat for not having any white streamers involved Streamer Univeristy. Zoe Spencer is a name who made waves after her rejection from the university. The streamer released a statement that caught the eye of Twitch content creator Javontay “SoLLUMINATI” Baynes, and the two were soon embroiled in drama that led to SoLLUMINATI being banned from Twitch. The ban was short-lived and the streamer was unbanned as soon as he talked about moving to Kick.
As the drama continued to build, Kai Cenat announced during a stream that he won’t do another Streamer University again because of all the “hate” it received. The streamer claimed that regardless of what he does “he’s given the bad end of the stick.” He went on to say he spent a large amount of money on the event., reiterating that no one paid to be in it and repeating his claim that the focus of Streamer University was to help others get a leg up in content creation.
Whatever his original intent, it seems that Kai doesn’t believe the mess that followed was worth ever running a similar event again.
