Michael “shroud” Grzesiek has announced his special fragathon stream marathon, but what is it and how long will it last? Here’s everything you need to know.
shroud is considered among the world’s best and most popular content creators in the world of FPS games. He was a professional CSGO player and has also played Valorant at its highest levels, but he now opts to stream full-time. With multiple streamer-related awards to his name already, shroud is highly respected in the FPS community, whether he’s talking about Destiny 2 or breaking records in The Finals.
While shroud has a fairly consistent streaming schedule, he didn’t stream at the start of January 2025. Some fans assumed the streamer was taking a break to celebrate the new year, but in reality shroud was planning something big. shroud announced a new special marathon stream called “fragathon.” Fans may want to know what shroud’s fragathon is all about, what its aim is, and for how long it will last.
shroud’s fragathon is a gaming-centered marathon stream to raise money for charity.
shroud started his fragathon announcement by talking about his father’s passing in 2023 due to lung cancer. The streamer stated that the loss made him think of ways to support those going through similar situations. His answer is the fragathon, a marathon stream specifically made for his fans.
My biggest announcement yet
During the fragathon, shroud’s stream will have a frag counter set in one corner of the screen. Initially, one frag means one dollar, though not for long. Every kill he gets in a game will increase that counter, while subscriptions and donations will increase the frag multiplier. The frag multiplier will increase the dollar amount every individual frag counter earned represents. Therefore, if the multiplier is x100, a single elimination means $100 is added to the overall charity proceeds.
True to shroud’s audience’s tastes, the streamer will play multiple games on his stream, ranging from Valorant to Marvel Rivals. In addition to gaming alone, shroud has an in-house LAN setup and will invite other streamers to donate via frags and participate in the fragathon. When not gaming, shroud will perform various IRL challenges with his friends, and each challenge will increase the frag counter in some way.
All money raised by the end of the fragathon will go to an unnamed charity, presumably for benefiting those suffering from cancer or helping to cure it. Additionally, all money earned through subscriptions, donations, and bits will also pool with the frag counter’s amount, significantly increasing the amount to be donated.
shroud stated that his fragathon will last for the entire month of January, beginning on January 4, 2025.
The fragathon announcement was posted on shroud’s socials on January 3, 2025. The announcement video doesn’t have a set date for when the marathon would start, but shroud captioned the announcement he made on X with “tomorrow” to make clear the January 4 start date.
As for when the fragathon will end, shroud specifically states the marathon will last throughout the full month of January. The streamer will likely aim to be live for 28 days in a row. shroud will invite various gaming-related streamers to join him during the marathon to attract their respective audiences to take part. The announcement video shows such names as Nicholas “Jynxzi” Stewart and Tyson “TenZ” Van Ngo, suggesting they’ll appear too. Other streamers not named are also likely to make an appearance during the marathon streaming event.
