Here Is Every Major Announcement at Sony’s September State of Play
The latest Sony State of Play was on September 3 at 9 am ET, and as usual, plenty of interesting games were announced and shown off. These, like a Nintendo Direct or Xbox Showcase, always end up being one of the most exciting times of the year for gamers. PlayStation often has great exclusives, so it’s always worth seeing what they’re working on.
Sony State of Play recap
Interestingly enough, the first showcase wasn’t game-related. It was for the upcoming movie adaptation of Resident Evil from Zach Cregger. After that, though, the games took center stage. Fittingly, a new
Marvel’s Wolverine
trailer dropped. At this point, we know almost everything there is to know about the game ahead of its launch next week.
One of the most unexpected announcements was a
brand new mode for Ghost of Yotei. On October 1, you can play a new hardcore roguelite survival mode. Characters from Ghost of Yotei as well as Ghost of Tsushima’s protagonist, Jin Sakai, will be available. Monster Hunter Wilds is getting another new expansion, this one titled Ascendance. New monsters will be arriving in 2027.
Furthermore, Metro 2039 was already confirmed, but an in-depth look at the game was revealed at State of Play. Maneater 2 was officially announced with a trailer for the shark game sequel. Crimson Desert has been one of the biggest games of 2026, and a new DLC is already on the way. Charting the Unknown will be available on October 15.

Another non-game announcement: the PlayStation is getting the LEGO treatment. A buildable version of the original console is coming with over 1,900 pieces. A new trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance was shown off, too. A demo was dropped alongside the trailer, which gave more insight to the HD-2D game.
Furthermore, gamers got a new look at Gundam: Rogue Orbit: it’ll be out on March 5, 2027. Hunter’s Moon, a historical folk-horror game, was announced. It is coming to PlayStation 5 on October 26. Uncanyon, a new indie puzzle game, was also announced. Double Fine has a new game coming: Keeper — this is no longer an Xbox-exclusive developer and it has already dropped.
A brand-new action RPG called Rev. Noir is coming out from Konami, and a second trailer for the game was shown off. That wasn’t all from Konami, though. Rhapsody in Scarlet is a game set in the 1920s where you’ll attempt to stave off a world-ending threat. Gran Turismo 7 is getting a brand-new update called Spec IV this year; it’ll be released in two parts.
Though it wasn’t a new announcement, we got a good look at the Until Dawn sequel, too.
The GTA 6
PS5 controllers were also shown off. Lastly, one of the most highly anticipated things was a new look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, which officially launches on April 8. This is the final remake in the FFVII trilogy. That concluded the Sony State of Play stream, in what was a packed set of announcements.
