With an official announcement, the Esports Foundation has confirmed that the opening ceremony of the highly anticipated Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 in Paris will feature major artists such as DJ Snake, Aya Nakamura, and Theodora.

While all these artists have a global appeal and represent different genres of music, one thing they all have in common is that they are all of French descent. The Esports Foundation made sure that the opening ceremony would not only appeal to their global-first approach towards the event, but also to the French pop fans.

Originally, the Esports World Cup 2026 was set to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, due to the ongoing global tension, the Esports Foundation decided to move the whole tournament to Paris.

EWC locks DJ Snake and other French stars for the opening ceremony

The choice of performers shows an effort by the organization to celebrate artists who mirror the international, connective nature of competitive gaming. DJ Snake, a world-renowned producer raised in the Paris suburbs, brings an extensive global catalog that features electronic music and hip-hop.

Joining him is Aya Nakamura, colloquially dubbed “The Queen of France,” whose signature fusion of Afrobeats, R&B, and French pop recently earned her a spotlight at the Paris Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.

Rounding out the trio is Theodora, the fast-rising artist known as “Miss Kitoko,” who deeply embodies the next generation of digitally native, internet-focused music consumers. This star-studded Parisian lineup follows the massive commercial success of last year’s sold-out opening showcase in Riyadh, which featured mainstream stars like Post Malone and K-pop star DINO of SEVENTEEN.

Esports Foundation executives emphasize that launching the European iteration with top-tier contemporary talent is crucial for capturing the energy of a younger generation heavily shaped by streaming platforms, live experiences, and online communities.

The high-profile opening festival sets the stage for what is setting up to be the largest, most lucrative competitive gaming event in history. Running from July 6 through August 23, the Esports World Cup 2026 will host over 2,000 elite professional players representing more than 200 global clubs.

Spanning a massive 25 distinct tournaments across 24 gaming titles, competitors will face off for a never-before-seen prize pool of over 75 million dollars. With so many different happening, there will be plenty of wagering opportunities during the EWC. Check out our list of best esports betting sites to get started.

General ticket sales for the tournament, alongside exclusive access passes for the headline musical showcase at La Seine Musicale, have officially gone live on the tournament’s primary digital portal.
