A wave of mined data has revealed new heroes and maps that may come to Marvel Rivals soon, including some fan-favorite heroes such as mercenary anti-hero Deadpool.
Praised for offering a unique take on known Marvel heroes and villains while delivering fast-paced and exciting gameplay, Marvel Rivals has taken the hero shooter genre by storm. The Marvel Rivals Discord server is the biggest gaming server on the platform, already showcasing the game’s popularity.
Wanting to keep the hype going, Marvel Rivals is slated to have additions to its playable roster. Some characters like Human Torch were previously leaked. However, newly mined data revealed a handful of characters and maps fans might see in Marvel Rivals soon.
According to mined data, Angela, Hit-Monkey, Deadpool, Captain Marvel, Emma Frost, Jean Gray, and Modok are some of the new heroes and characters Marvel Rivals players can expect to be coming to the game.
This information comes from the X user and data miner X0XLEAK. It’s unknown what role upcoming characters will fill, but players can make some safe assumptions based on every character’s most popular renditions and what’s known about them in their comic book forms.
Angela, for example, is usually portrayed as the firstborn daughter of Odin and Freyja, making her related to Thor, Loki, and Hela. She may join the game as a Duelist with her excellent hand-to-hand combat skills, or as a vanguard considering her warrior background. Deadpool is likely to be a Duelist since he uses his guns and swords. The masked mercenary also has a healing factor similar to Wolverine, and that could come into play with a potential passive ability.
On the other hand, Modok may be a Strategist with abilities can strengthen teammates, similar to Rocket Racoon’s. Emma Frost may be a Vanguard thanks to her diamond form, or a Strategist who shields teammates. Though Jean Grey is a mystery, Hit-Monkey and Captain Marvel will likely join the Marvel Rivals roster as Duelists like Deadpool. While Jean is primarily a damage dealer give her great mutant powers and her Phoenix background, her power can also strengthen or resurrect allies, which could make more sense in a utility role.
It’s important to note that these characters were mined from Marvel Rivals’ files. Therefore, there’s a chance these characters may potentially get scrapped and not make it to the actual game.
The new maps coming to Marvel Rivals include Arakko, Empire of Eternal Night, Krakoa, and New York.
Arakko is a frequent island in X-Men-related stories, while the Empire of Eternal Night is a pocket area within the dimension of Death. Krakoa is a sentient island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that was created thanks to radiation through nuclear testing and has more recently become a place of rebirth for mutants.
Many Marvel characters originate from New York. From Spider-Man to Doctor Strange, these characters will likely have unique dialogues for this map. The map is also home to the Avenger’s Tower in many cases, so a nod to that could be on the table. The location is frequently featured in storylines revolving around non-resident characters in Marvel Rivals, including Deadpool and Thor.
Similar to the mined playable characters, some or all of these mined maps could potentially get scrapped. New York is definitely the most likely thanks to its popularity in other Marvel media, including Insomniac’s Spider-Man games.
