Vtuber and voice actress CottontailVA receives first Twitch ban.

Vtuber and voice actress CottontailVA has received her first Twitch ban after half a decade of streaming, much to her loyal fans’ chagrin.

CottontailVA first debuted in November 2020 as a “Just Chatting” streamer on Twitch. Fans follow her to watch a collection of variety and horror games, her Confessional Booth, and her consistent engagement with her chat. In more recent years, CottontailVA has expanded into more NSFW content as well as trying out a musical career of sorts on other platforms. Yet despite her leanings, she has always kept to Twitch’s strict content guidelines.

On January 20, Twitch broke her clean record by issuing the vtuber her first ever ban on the streaming platform. CottontailVA claims her offense was an accident, but the ban holds firm.

Why was CottontailVA banned on Twitch?

After five years of streaming, Twitch partner and vtuber CottontailVA was banned on the platform for the first time for an inappropriate object.

The streamer revealed that she was banned for inadvertently showing a dildo in the background of her stream. CottontailVA said that the dildo was going to be featured in a Fansly video later, which is her paid NSFW platform of choice. Several other vtubers and voice actors have come to her defense in the comments following the ban. They argue that Twitch shouldn’t have banned her for the mistake and that the platform much more serious violations to occur without any penalty.

CottontailVA banned from Twitch for seven days.

Fortunately for CottontailVA and her fans, she has several other platforms where she can continue to stream and upload content. Those interested can still find her safe for work content on YouTube and TikTok, while Fansly and OnlyFans contain material that Twitch would never allow.

Twitch has hit CottontailVA with a seven-day ban as a result of the violation. Some fans have pointed out that a week is long for a first-time offense, but the sexual nature of her terms violation could have caused its length. Unless CottontailVA appeals the decision, which seems unlikely given her X post, her fans can expect to see her back on the site January 27, 2025.

ConttontailVA also hit with YouTube ban

In December, YouTube banned CottontailVA’s entire ASMR channel for apparent violations of its sex and nudity policy.

Among her fans, CottontailVA is well-known for her ASMR content on a dedicated YouTube channel as well as Whisper Wednesday on Twitch. Back in December, YouTube removed one of her videos before taking down her entire ASMR channel. CottontailVA revealed the email sent by YouTube that claimed that her videos severely and repeatedly violated its sex and nudity policies.

Both the streamer and her fans argued that her ASMR content did not violate those policies. Instead, they blamed YouTube’s AI banning feature. This would be far from the first time a creator has been banned or had their content deleted due to the such automation. Vtubers Ironmouse and Bao the Whale have both recently dealt with these bans impacting them. Many claim that YouTube’s appeal replies are also automated, leading to little to no resolution for streamers who aren’t big enough to catch the platform’s manual attention.

Currently, fans still can’t access CottontailVA’s ASMR YouTube channel. They hope that her Twitch ban will pass quickly so that she can get back to streaming live content.
