Only one spot is left in the 2026 LCS grand final. Cloud9 and LYON have done well to make it this far, even if LYON is the favorite to win the match. Still, looking at the recent match histories of both teams, there’s a good chance that things could be much closer than most fans may otherwise think. Cloud9 vs LYON match analysis

Cloud9 has been inconsistent but fairly strong recently. The team may have entered the playoffs as the third seed, but it comfortably swept Shopify Rebellion before showcasing a decisive victory against LYON. In particular, the team’s top laner, Thanatos, has shown the most improvement. The player was arguably single-handedly responsible for Cloud9’s win over LYON in the upper bracket semifinals, so LYON will likely try to shut him down by counter-picking.

This isn’t to say that Thanatos is Cloud9’s only powerhouse. Blaber has been having extremely good jungle games recently, primarily because of how he uses his jungle presence to affect lanes. Loki is a reliable enough player in the middle lane, though Cloud9’s bottom lane is definitely its weak side.

As for LYON, it makes sense that it’s the favorite to win this match. The team finished the Summer regular season 6-1, and its overall 2026 performance has been impressive. The team’s early game is extremely strong, largely thanks to Inspired’s return in the jungler role. It wouldn’t be surprising if the team comfortably acquired most early-game objectives, including the first dragon and even the first tower. However, Cloud9’s initial aggressiveness could help it get first blood.

The match itself will likely be closer than expected. LYON has won more head-to-head matches against Cloud9, but Cloud9 won the last time the two team won. While taking the over on 4.5 maps being played seems like the way to go here, it could also be a good idea to side with Cloud9 to win. After all, the team’s underdog status could potentially result in a higher return, especially since the team seems to be in excellent form.

Cloud9 vs LYON betting picks & predictions

Both teams have already qualified for this year’s World Championship. This means that the stakes aren’t as high as they could have been. Still, the winning team will get a massive boost in confidence, and looking at how consistent Cloud9 has been recently, which is fairly new for the team, it wouldn’t be surprising if it came out on top in this match.

☑️ My Picks

  • Cloud9 to get first blood @ 2.04: Cloud9 is the more initially aggressive team, which could help it get the first blood.
  • Total maps to be over 4.5 @ 2.16: Both teams will give it their all to qualify for the grand final. Looking at their similar recent skill level, this could mean that the match goes the distance.

Cloud9 vs LYON prediction: I predict that Cloud9 will cause an upset by winning 3-2 against LYON. This is currently rated @ 2.87 odds at GG.BET.
