Potential bug may explain the OP Moon Knight ult in Marvel Rivals

Moon Knight is one of many playable heroes in Marvel Rivals, but he may be a little too strong for the game, and a potential bug related to his ult ability could be the cause.
Marvel Rivals swung in like Spider-Man to take over the third-person shooter world. The game has over 30 different heroes with plenty more scheduled to hit servers in due time. One character that has been gaining a lot of attention in Marvel Rivals Season 1 is Moon Knight. As a duelist, Moon Knight’s purpose is to deal high damage while most of his teammates either tank or play support roles. But it now seems that the hero may be doing way more damage than he’s supposed to.
Here’s how Moon Knight’s ultimate in Marvel Rivals is more powerful than his page claims it to be, and whether or not that actually matters.
Moon Knight’s ultimate deals double stated damage
Several players across social media have found that Moon Knight’s ultimate in Marvel Rivals might be bugged to deal far more damage than is listed in its description.
Moon Knight’s ult ability, Hand of Khonshu, shoots out damage-dealing talons in a set chosen radius of attack. Each talon is supposed to deal 75 damage, it is being claimed that the real number may actually be double that. It’s been pointed out that the talons seem to have two distinct areas of effect, one of five meters and the other of ten. Combining the two means that the character’s talons can each do 150 damage rather than the stated 75, and they strike too quickly for most players to react to them. With enough talons gathered, Moon Knight can effectively one-shot several heroes at once with his ult.

This is far from the first issue players have pointed out about Moon Knight. For instance, every hero has a voice line that triggers when their ult ability is cast. This gives the opposing team time to to take action and to potentially counter it. However, players have reported that the Hand of Khonshu effect begins before Moon Knight is done speaking or, in some instances, happens in complete silence, eliminating the potential for counter-play. And Moon Knight not only has an incredibly high DPS with Hand of Khonshu, he also has one of the fastest-charging ultimates in the game.
Even with an overpowered ultimate, is Moon Knight actually OP? His stats from Season 0 suggest that the answer could be more complicated.
Moon Knight had low win rate in Season 0 Marvel Rivals
Even with a potentially OP ultimate, Moon Knight was still one of the least successful heroes in Marvel Rivals in Season 0.
Moon Knight has one of the lowest win rates in the game through Season 0, alongside Black Widow and Squirrel Girl. One of the primary reasons for his loss rate may be due to a reported general player focus on dealing damage regardless of the role. Another, as some players have pointed out, is that he has one of the higher skill caps in the game. As Season 1 rolled out, most heroes received an adjustment in some way that reflected their win rate. Yet Moon Knight’s buffs may have made his ultimate even more OP than expected, particularly it if’s a bug that is at the source of his ult damage.
Players will notice that Moon Knight’s ultimate now has 14 talons as opposed to 10. Additionally, the development team at NetEase increased the explosion radius of his talons from four to five feet. Although he had a low win rate in Season 0, many players feel that increasing Hand of Khonshu’s power only serves to make the hero overly strong as those playing the hero become more familiar with his kit and role. Should these changes lead to a significant increase in win rate, developers will likely readjust Hand of Konshu.
Marvel Rivals regularly issues game patches for a variety of reasons, ranging from character fixes to seasonal events. If enough players complain about this potential Moon Knight bug, NetEase just might have to nerf him.
