Bilibili Gaming sweeps Dplus KIA in LoL Worlds quarterfinals

Three out of four LoL Worlds quarterfinals are over, and Bilibili Gaming swiftly dismantled Dplus KIA. DK’s dream evaporated before their eyes as the 3-0 Swiss Stage turned into 0-3. BLG will now go up against the winner of Karmine Corp vs T1 in the semifinals.
Bilibili Gaming sweeps Dplus KIA
In the LoL Worlds Swiss Stage, having a strong finishing score rewards one with facing a theoretically weaker opponent. The 3-0 teams are guaranteed a 3-2 opponent.
In this case though, BLG started shaky at Worlds, but they quickly stood back up. The team is inconsistent as always, but when things click, they click strong as ever. Thus the promise of a 3-2 opponent did not bring DK a weaker adversary in the slightest. All BLG players were on the same page, and the series was a slaughter.
Dplus KIA managed to go moderately ahead at the start of the first two maps. That lead was only a facade though, and it was always over before the 20-minute mark. Things went from bad to worse as everything went wrong from the get-go on the third match.
DK finished the series with one single dragon to their name. They paid for it by losing the entirety of their team on the third map. Meanwhile, BLG collected 14 drakes and all five Barons. Individually, the players on the LPL team were just better, and looked like they went on stage feeling less pressure.

The LCK’s gauntlet for Bilibili Gaming
In 2023, T1 went through three LPL teams back to back in the LoL Worlds Knockout Stage. The World Champion beat them all to claim their first title since 2016. However, they could only eliminate three out of four Chinese representatives, as Bilibili Gaming fell to Weibo Gaming instead.
At LoL Worlds 2026, BLG has the opportunity to return the favor to T1 and the LCK in general. Except that they could even complete the regional elimination.
- BLG eliminates Hanwha Life Esports in the 2-2 bracket of the LoL Worlds Swiss Stage.
- Bilibili Gaming sweeps Dplus KIA in the quarterfinals.
- Next, BLG will almost surely face T1 in the semifinals.
- Lastly, BLG’s most likely opponent for the grand finals will be Gen.G.
Bilibili Gaming has already taken out two of the four LCK representatives. If T1 beats Karmine Corp and Gen.G wins against Invictus Gaming, what separates them from their first Summoner’s Cup is eliminating the other half of South Korea.
Should they achieve this, it would be historic for a number of reasons.
- Bilibili Gaming has never won Worlds (and neither has any of its players). The last time the LPL won this event was in 2021.
- This would be the first time one team would eliminate all four teams of another region.
- T1 has never lost a best-of-five against an LPL team at Worlds.
My thoughts
Currently, BLG hasn’t even dropped a game against the LCK at this event, standing at 5-0. I don’t expect them to win LoL Worlds, though. The first hurdle is T1, and they’re on another level in Worlds playoffs. The second problem is Gen.G, who should be much better on paper.
Additionally, BLG’s inconsistencies make it hard to fathom them being in peak shape against both T1 and Gen.G – and they would need to be. Their only chance goes through IG beating Gen.G.
