The Governor is the latest release from Betsoft and one of the premium slots under ‘THE Series’ from the studio. Played across a 6×5 grid, The Governor features a cluster pays mechanism where you achieve wins by matching 5+ symbols anywhere on the grid.
It is a high RTP slot at 96.42% and has very high volatility, making it ideal for streamers and players that are willing to be patient. The bet limits are also varied, with coin sizes available from $0.10 to $40 a spin as you hunt down the mamoth 10,000x max win.
But it is on the bonus features that Betsoft has clearly outdone itself. The Governor goes beyond wilds, scatters, and free spins to offer a filibuster session, which is a cascade session after 5+ matching symbols forming the win are removed and replaced. There’s also the lobbyist session, the holy grail on The Governor slot. During the session, activated golden frames are present and can reveal symbols like donations, dark money, and offshore, some with multiplier values, others with collect features. Then there’s the bonus buy feature, which helps cut to the chase by letting you buy right into the features for a price.
How to Play The Governor
You can play The Governor demo on our page, or join a crypto casino like Stake to play for real money. Once the game has been launched, the following steps are how to play:
- Set your stake between $0.10 and $40 through the – and + buttons, sticking to your set budget.
- You hit a winning combination when you match 5+ symbols adjacent to each other (cluster), which triggers avalanches/cascades where the winning symbols are removed, and new ones replace them to form more combos. Only a wild symbol will not be removed. This is the filibuster session.
- While at it, the positions of the winning symbols are highlighted by golden frames and will remain there until the end of the cascades (when no more winning combos can be formed). If a lobbyist symbol is available on the reels, it activates golden frames once wins are calculated and awarded. Then the activated golden frames can reveal donation symbols with up to 500x random slot multipliers, dark money symbols with up to 10x multipliers, and offshore symbols that collect donation symbols.
- Landing 3+ scatters in your session will trigger three bonus rounds, with up to 12 free spins, and can be retriggered.
- A buy bonus feature is available to buy directly into the free spin rounds from as low as 3x your bet or a lobbyist session at 50x. Approach this with caution and try it out with The Governor demo further up this review.
- Your winnings will be displayed on the bottom right side, and The Governor slot lets you win up to 10,000x your stake.

The Governor Slot and Streamers
The Governor is a high volatility slot, meaning that gameplay sessions are likely to see big swings in your balance. That being said, when wins land, they will tend to be on the larger side and there are plenty of features that can see multipliers of 1,000x your stake or more — all the way up to the 10,000x max win.
In truth, Betsoft is seldom the slot provider of choice for streamers; they tend to opt for those with extraordinarily high volatility such as NoLimit City. That being said, the plethora of engaging features, unique theme and classy visuals mean that we can genuinely see this being a hit on Kick that pays out some major wins.
