Genshin Impact has been going strong for almost half a decade now, with new content continuing to release at regular intervals. Whether it’s the release of a grand region like Natlan or engaging new events for players to participate in, Genshin Impact players are being kept busy. But most would argue the core experience of the game is collecting new characters.

Varesa is one such new character. With highly defensive abilities and the power to use her Elemental Skill to ride across lava in Genshin Impact’s Natlan region, those who acquire Varesa will want to know her best artifacts and weapons to bring the most out of her abilities.

How to play Varesa in Genshin Impact

Varesa is a five-star catalyst user in Genshin Impact who plays best by exceling in using plunging attacks.

Players can perform her normal attacks up to three consecutive times, with each attack dealing Electro DMG. Her charged headbutt attack consumes stamina to deal Nightsoul-aligned Electro DMG before going up into the air. Her plunging attacks deal AoE Electro DMG and let her regain 25 Nightsoul points if she’s in combat or hits an enemy. These tools makes her a great option against groups of enemies.

Varesa enters the Fiery Passion state when her Nightsoul gauge is full. Her normal, charged, and plunging attacks are all stronger during this state. Normal attacks deal more Electro DMG, and charged attacks cause her to dash forward and deal extra Electro DMG with the Nightsoul’s Blessing property. Her plunging attack consumes all collected Nightsoul Points to descend from mid-air to damage enemies and deal extra AoE Electro DMG upon impact.

Varesa’s elemental skill causes her to dash forward and deal Electro DMG with the Nightsoul’s Blessing property to everyone. She receives 20 Nightsoul points after casting and the pursuit effect. During that effect, Varesa has a higher interruption resistance, and pressing the normal attack button lets her perform a charged attack without using stamina. The pursuit effect goes away after performing the charged attack.

Holding the elemental skill button makes Varesa enter the Nightsoul’s Blessing state and switch to her Rapid Advance mode. During Rapid Advance, Varesa consumes Nightsoul points to increase her movement speed and gain interruption resistance. She can consume more Nightsoul points to move over water, lava, and Liquid Phlogiston without taking damage.

Varesa’s elemental burst makes her jump into the air and hit opponents with a flying kick to deal AoE Electro DMG with the Nightsoul’s Blessing property. Casting it restores Varesa’s Nightsoul points and has her enter her Fiery Passion state. Her elemental burst deals extra Electro DMG with the Nightsoul’s Blessing property in the state.

The Widsith is a good alternate weapon for Varesa because the player gains a random theme song for 10 seconds every 30 seconds. If the player gets the Aria song, their Elemental DMG will increase by 48-96%, strengthening her plunging attacks.
