Human Torch is a duelist that can be a real headache to face, leaving many players wondering which of the game’s 30 heroes can counter him most effectively.
Season 1.5 is here, bringing Human Torch and The Thing to round out the Fantastic Four. Johnny Storm brings scorching flames with him, and is already melting enemies with AoE damage before diving in for the final blow. Since his release, players have been quick to test out his synergy and team-up with Storm to cook up insane combos.
Human Torch is a fun pick to play or even one-trick, but not everyone loves going up against him. He’s got his fair share of weaknesses that smart players can exploit. Besides banning Human Torch, there are many ways a player can deal with him. Find all of the best Human Torch counters in Marvel Rivals below.
Hit-scan and sniper heroes are the best picks against Human Torch in Marvel Rivals. That said, there are also heroes outside these categories that can counter him just as effectively. These heroes are the best picks against the Fantastic Four’s steamy duelist.
Punisher is a duelist with devastating hit-scan damage, provided he’s in the right hands.
Â
While Human Torch is airborne, Punisher can use his Adjudication Assault Rifle to gun him down or at least force him to retreat behind cover. But his threat isn’t just at long range. When Human Torch dives in with Flaming Meteor, Punisher can swap to his shotgun to, well, punish him, or use his smoke grenade to escape if needed. And if that’s not enough, his ultimate can melt Human Torch in mereseconds.
Human Torch spends most of his time in the air, and a skilled Hela player can bring him down with ease.
Â
Her hit-scan primary attack dishes out massive damage, leaving Human Torch with two choices: to retreat, or stay in the air and die quickly. A good Hela can eliminate Human Torch with two headshots, or four well-placed body shots.
Hela is a squishy hero however, and if Human Torch locks onto her with his dive combo, she can be wiped out in seconds. Hela does have an escape tool that she can use to reposition.
Black Widow isn’t in the best spot right now, and your teammates probably won’t be happy about the pick in a high-stakes ranked game.
But when it comes to countering Human Torch, she gets the job done. She preys on isolated, squishy targets, and with just 250 HP and no self-sustain, Johnny Storm won’t last long if the Widow player lands her shots.
Hawkeye has been a problem for flying heroes since day one.
Â
He rewards sharp aim, with the power to one-shot enemies in an instant. Human Torch is an easy target as being airborne leaves him wide open, particularly when no good cover is available to him nearby. Hawkeye’s ultimate producing targetable after-images hard-counters Johnny due to the Torch’s slow movements. Hawkeye also has one anti-dive ability, which can counter Flaming Meteor as well.
A good Hawkeye can lock Johnny down so hard that the player might just swap heroes the next time they respawn.
Countering Human Torch with Namor’s primary attacks isn’t always the way to go as they are projectiles that might not make it all the way to impact.
The farther the distance, the harder it is to land these shots, making it not always worth the effort. Instead, Namor can set up Monstro Spawns, which act as turrets. Placed in the right spots, these turrets can target Human Torch and help bring him down.
These are the best Human Torch counters in Marvel Rivals. Besides these few, other heroes that can help shut him down are Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Peni Parker, Starlord, Iron Fist, Iron Man, Winter Soldier, Adam Warlock and Luna. These other picks can work against Johnny, but not so well or consistently that they could be considered counter-picks to the new hero.
