Best Genshin Impact 5.3 pulls from the Chronicled Wish banner

Version 5.3 of Genshin Impact brings back the Chronicled Wish banner featuring a new roster of characters and weapons, leaving many players weighing their options as to what the best pulls might be.
March 2024 saw the first appearance of the Chronicled Wish in Genshin Impact, meant to bring a collection of old characters together in a single banner for a limited time. Though it vanished after its first run, it has now returned for Genshin Impact patch 5.3, and it’s set to center around Liyue characters this time around. When the second iteration of Chronicled Wish goes live, characters who’ve had at least three reruns will be featured, including Baizhu, Shenhe, Keqing, Ganyu, Xiao, and Tartaglia.
While these returning characters are sure to excite longtime fans and even new players, two big questions remain: are any of them worth pulling in 5.3, and if so, which are the best pulls for Chronicled Wish?
Who are the best characters to pull in Genshin Impact 5.3 Chronicled Wish
The best characters to consider spending Primogems on a pull for from the upcoming Chronicled Wish banner are Baizhu, Shenhe, Xiao, and Tartaglia. We’ll detail below why each character could be worth your precious resources.
Baizhu
Support characters have lasting value, and that alone makes Baizhu a strong potential choice from the jump.

The doctor and owner of Bubu Pharmacy, Baizhu is a Dendro Catalyst known for his all-around skill set. He serves as a shielder, healer, Dendro applicator, and driver, and can even fill the role of DPS when needed. Given his flexibility in team setups and build options, there’s not much downside to picking him up. He’s even F2P-friendly, making him an accessible choice for many players.
With Xilonen now in the game, she does tend to overshadow Baizhu. So players who already have her might just want to keep her on their team instead.
Shenhe
Shenhe is the odd one out in the banner. Normally, the Chronicled Wish Banner only features characters with at least three reruns, but the developers decided to make an exception for Shenhe after she went missing for 600 days. As a Cryo buffer and debuffer, she can present a massive upgrade for cryo units such as Ayaka and Wriothesley.

Xiao
Xiao has had several reruns since his initial release. Despite that, he still manages to draw players in for pulls, and it’s easy to see why. His hard-hitting and stylish plunge animations make him one of the most satisfying characters to play in Genshin Impact. But he’s not without his drawbacks.
He’s a selfish DPS who’s far from being free-to-play friendly. Maximizing his damage output doesn’t come cheap as it means running a potentially expensive team with C6 Faruzan, Furina, and Xianyun. Weapons can be another headache as he needs high crit stats to get the most out of his burst damage. Without his signature polearm, his ideal damage can be difficult to achieve.

Tartaglia
Finally, there’s Tartaglia. With damage-dealers such as Arlecchino and Neuvillette occupying the top spots for the best DPS in the game, it might seem hard for Tartaglia to find a place in your roster of character. Though several years have passed since his initial release, players had best believe his strength hasn’t faded. As a Hydro hypercarry, he deals exceptional damage and his fast hydro application makes him a good enabler.

There’s no doubting that the Chronicled Wish banner presents some interesting character options, and these are the best to pull for.
