Wuthering Waves welcomes its first five-star pistol DPS, Carlotta, who is expected to dominate the damage charts with the right build and party members.
With Rinascita finally opening its doors, new resonators start to arrive, and one of them is Carlotta. She enters the roster as a five-star Glacio Pistol damage dealer. Her massive single-target damage exceeds most every expectation, pushing her straight into S-tier and making her a character well worth spending Astrites on.
Wuthering Waves | Resonator Showcase | Carlotta — THE BANQUET
But like with any unit, players need to heavily invest in her kit in order to make her truly shine. We have gathered for you guides on Carlotta’s best Echo set, weapons, and teams.
Carlotta is a main DPS pistol character in Wuthering Waves whose best play involves deals devastating glacio damage that could potentially hit as high as a million points with the right combo.
Carlotta’s kit revolves around Moldable crystals and Substance. Moldable crystals come from a bunch of attacks: intro skill, basic attack 2, heavy attack, perfect dodge, mid-air attack and the first part of her elemental skill. Each one gives three crystals, and she can hold up to six at a time. After that, players can start spending these crystals through basic attacks and skills, turning them into substance or her forte.
What works best in practice is using her two-part resonance skill at the beginning of the rotation to build her forte. Then switch into supports and sub-DPS to activate their respective buffs and unleash their damage. Build up sufficient concerto energy, then swap back into Carlotta with the intro skill and keep stacking substance until her forte is ready.
Once substance is full, two things can happen: Imminent Oblivion and Final Blow. Imminent Oblivion delivers a massive burst of damage before going on cooldown, while Final Bow boosts Carlotta’s resonance liberation by 80%, ramping up the damage across the board.
Carlotta’s resonance liberation is the hardest-hitting part of her kit. Upon cast, she delivers an initial blast followed by four instances of glacio damage through death knell. It then ends with an attack with a particularly high damage multiplier that essentially nukes down any opponents hit by it.
Even with all of the complexity in her kit, Carlotta is actually a pretty straightforward unit to use, and with a very high damage ceiling. This becomes even more true when she’s equipped with the best build for Carlotta.
5-piece Frosty Resolve, 5-piece Freezing Frost and 5-piece Lingering Tunes are the best Echoes set for an optimal Carlotta build.
The new 2.0 Sonata set effect, Frosty Resolve, is the best-in-slot for Carlotta. Frosty Resolve directly buffs her resonance skill damage, which is where her damage scales, and gives a Glacio damage bonus as well every time she casts her resonance skill and liberation.
Equip Sentry Construct into the main slot, as it provides a boost to her glacio damage and resonance skill.
Here’s the list of all Frosty resolve echoes in Wuthering Waves:
Given that Carlotta is a Glacio resonator, giving her the Freezing Frost set is a viable approach. She can gain up to 40% glacio damage boost upon releasing strings of basic and heavy attacks.
Pair this up with Lampylumen Myriad, a four-cost overlord echo that grants the same buffs as Sentry Construct: resonance skill damage and glacio damage boosts.
Here’s the list of all Freezing Frost echoes in Wuthering Waves:
While it lacks Glacio damage and resonance skill damage bonuses, Lingering Tunes remains a solid set for Carlotta build. The ATK% bonus and outro skill amplification she gets from this set directly translate to a significant upgrade in her overall damage output. Just keep in mind that Lingering Tunes favors longer field time, meaning it’s less viable in quickswap teams.
Mech Abomination will be the main Echo for this one. It’s a four-cost Echo that provides a good source of additional ATK%.
Here’s the list of all Lingering Tunes echoes in Wuthering Waves:
Just like most resonators in Wuthering Waves, Carlotta’s signature weapon, Last Dance, is her current best-in-slot weapon and is likely to remain so in the foreseeable future. But she has some other great alternatives, ranging from five to four-star pistols.
The Last Dance is, without a doubt, the best weapon for Carlotta. She gains 12% ATK and a 48% resonance skill damage bonus, which she can easily maintain during her field time. It also boasts a huge base attack and crit damage, allowing her to deal tons of damage.
Static Mist comes in second among the best weapons for Carlotta in Wuthering Waves. It’s a crit-rate pistol that also provides energy regeneration, which is valuable for Carlotta since she wants to cast her resonance liberation on every rotation. Compared to her signature weapon, Static Mist is much easier to acquire as it’s part of the standard weapons lineup.
Players may need to pony up some cash to buy the BP to get this 4-star pistol, but it’s worth it. If they fail to get her signature weapon, they can instead pick up Thunderbolt. It significantly boosts her attack stats and can provide Carlotta with up to a 21% resonance skill damage boost, a major benefit to the character.
Moving on to free-to-play picks for the Carlotta build, players can also go for the new craftable weapon, Romance in Farewell. It boosts her attack stats whenever negative statuses are triggered. Carlotta has a debuff in the form of Deconstruction, which means she can stack those attack stats up quite easily.
Carlotta can be placed in hypercarry teams in Wuthering Waves alongside supports that provide damage boosts and sustain, or in quickswap teams with another DPS. Luckily, she fits into many team compositions, even in free-to-play squads.
Carlotta, Zhezhi, and Shorekeeper may be expensive, but they form the best Carlotta team available all the same. This premium hypercarry team focuses on stacking various buffs for Carlotta, along with some off-field damage to maximize the team’s overall damage output.
Zhezhi perfectly synergizes with Carlotta like no other. Her outro skill grants Glacio and resonance skill damage amplification, as well as restoring resonance energy for Carlotta, giving her easier access to her resonance liberation. On top of all that, Zhezhi can chip in some personal damage through her coordinated attacks. Complete the team by using Shorekeeper, WuWa’s current best support. She offers crit buffs and tons of healing.
Carlotta can also pair well with quickswap queen Changli. Instead of focusing buffs solely on Carlotta, this team splits field time between her and Changli. In a hypercarry setup, there’s some downtime in landing damage, whereas this team offers a constant stream of DPS.
While Carlotta is building her Forte gauge, she and Changli can continue swapping in and out, weaving plenty of damage over time. Players can maximize their damage output by learning some cancel animations as well. One thing to remember here is not to swap out during Carlotta’s ultimate, as players don’t want to lose the resonance liberation damage buff from Final Bow. Add Shorekeeper to the team to serve as the squad’s healer and buffer.
Carlotta has enough synergy with some 4-star resonators to make a viable free-to-play team.
Taoqi’s outro skill amplifies Carlotta’s damage by providing a resonance skill damage bonus for 14 seconds. She is comparatively better than Lumi, whose damage buff only lasts for 10 seconds, clearly not enough to buff all of Carlotta’s attacks during her burst window. Next, enter Baizhi. At S6, she performs at her best. Not only can she heal, but her Sequence 6 also grants a teamwide Glacio damage boost.
