Pokemon TCG Pocket is set to release new mini-set Triumphant Light and has given an early look at the best cards players can hope to pull from this newest card expansion.
Less than six months after launch, Pokemon TCG Pocket has become incredibly popular, already hitting 100 million downloads. Since the end of January players have been opening Space-Time Smackdown packs to try and get a coveted immersive Dialga or competitive Mismagius ex. Yet developers behind the game are already set to reveal the newest mini-set on the ever-important Pokemon Day.
Fortunately, excited players won’t have to wait long to start ripping new packs. To prepare, here are some of the best cards to pull from Triumphant Light in Pokemon TCG Pocket so far.
Triumphant Light highlights the god-like Pokemon Arceus, likely the best card to pull from this expansion, and introduces both some great new cards to pull and reworks of old ones that players will also be interested in grabbing.
The highlight card from Triumphant Light is Arceus ex. It can deal up to 130 damage, enough to knock out many ex Pokemon not wearing a giant cape. It also directly counters many of the cards introduced in Space-Time Smackdown, as special conditions the likes of confused and poisoned don’t affect it. Other ex cards spotted thus far that players will want to pull include Garchomp ex, Leafeon ex, and Glaceon ex.
A two-star rainbow-bordered Glaceon ex is the rarest pull card seen in the Triumphant Light trailer so far, with the immersive card being a mystery. For Mythical Island, despite it being themed around Mew, lucky players received an immersive Celebi ex card. This leaves the door open to expected Pokemon like Arceus and Giratina or another mythical option.
Interestingly, many of the new mini booster cards are different types of Pokemon players obtained in Space-Time Smackdown. For example, Magnezone appears as a steel-type rather than electric and Heatran as a fire-type rather than steel. This is a nice nod to how many Pokemon in games have dual-typing or even regional typing. For newer card non-ex cards, players can expect to see Pokemon such as Tyrannitar, Crobat, and the game’s third Raichu. Eight distint cards even have abilities that revolve around having Arceus ex on the bench.
Another cool feature from the trailer is that Triumphant Light’s trainers so far are Adaman and Irida. Unlike other trainers from Space-Time Smackdown who come from Gen 4, the new characters come from Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and should prove helpful if players can pull them early. Pokemon TCG Pocket also added origin forms for both Palkia and Dialga, as seen in PLA.
The new Pokemon TCG Pocket mini-set Triumphant Light goes live on February 28, 2025.
TCG Pocket announcements tend to be a little confusing given that they don’t always clarify timezones. For those playing in EST, the only way to know for sure when to start pulling the best cards from Triumphant Light is to check at 1 am. This is usually when updates come in, although Space-Time Smackdown was released on PST.
At the end of the Triumphant Light announcement, Pokemon TCG Pocket revealed that players could get the best cards from other sets. Running now through the end of April, the game is releasing special booster packs that are guaranteed to have a four-diamond or higher card. Players can freely get three Genetic Apex boosters, while they have to complete missions for Space-Time Smackdown packs.
Players can also look forward to the introduction of proper ranked matches at the end of March. Currently, random matches consist of both casual and competitive players, which can make the game feel less than balanced. Though more details are yet to come, the new matchmaking system will likely help players of all skill levels.
Hopefully, those interesting in the best pulls from Triumphant Light have been saving up their hourglasses. There are now four booster pack types in Pokemon TCG Pocket to choose from, so pick carefully!
