Importance of BC.Game Masters Championship
Though the BC.Game Masters Championship doesn’t have the largest prize pool or too many of the best Counter-Strike teams, there is still a lot on the line at this event.
The VRS Ranking cutoff is approaching, and teams are looking to secure a good placement to earn an invite to the upcoming IEM Cologne Major.
The cutoff is set for April, meaning teams are making one final push to lock in their VRS points from the BC.Game Masters Championship tournament.
Format and Schedule
With 24 teams in play, the BC.Game Masters Championship will follow a two-phase format to weed teams out and determine the winner. Here is how the tournament format is laid out:
Group Stage (March 24)
The group stage tournament will only last one day, with four live streams running at the same time.
- 16 teams are divided into four groups in a double-elimination bracket.
- Each group has four teams:
- The Opening and Winner’s matches are played in Best of 1 format.
- The Elimination and Decider matches are played in Best of 3 format.
- At the end, the top two teams from each group advance to the playoffs.
This means that, by the end of the first day, eight teams will be eliminated from the tournament, while the eight survivors will advance to the playoffs.
Playoffs (March 25-26)
Eight high-seed teams will await the group stage survivors in the playoffs. The eight advancing teams will be matched against the high-seed teams.
- A total of 16 teams are seeded into a single-elimination bracket.
- All matches will be played in Best of 3 format.
With the BC.Game Masters Championship being such a short event, there’s very little room for error. Losing a single series in the playoffs will immediately send you packing from the tournament.
There’s going to be non-stop action throughout these two days, and teams cannot afford to start slow.

24 Counter-Strike teams will attend this 3-day event. Some are here to improve their VRS rankings, while others are trying to gain LAN experience.
Eight teams received direct entries as “High-Seed Sign-Ups.” These teams get a fast pass to the playoffs and do not need to play in the group stage:
- G2 Esports
- BetBoom Team
- BIG Clan
- Gentle Mates
- HEROIC
- HOTU
- Monte
- SINNERS Esports
The remaining 16 teams must compete in the group stage discussed above. The Participants include:
| Group A Teams | Group B Teams | Group C Teams | Group D Teams |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fnatic | Passion UA | ECSTATIC | 9INE |
| MOUZ NXT | BESTIA | CYBERSHOKE Esports | Inner Circle Esports |
| Nexus Gaming | Tricked Esport | Eternal Fire | OG |
| Aimclub | BASEMENT BOYS | HYPERSPIRIT | Infinite Talent |
Prize Pool and Distribution
The tournament has a total of $50,000 up for grabs. Here is how the prize money will be divided:
| Team Placement | Prize Money Earned |
|---|---|
| 1st | $30,000 |
| 2nd | $10,000 |
| 3rd | $5,000 |
| 4th | $2,000 |
| 5th – 8th | $750 |
| 9th – 24th | $0 |
Yes, $50,000 isn’t as large as most prize pools we see today. However, this tournament will play a crucial role in VRS rankings, especially when we’re only weeks away before invitations to the IEM Cologne Major are locked in.
For many high-profile participants at this event, the real prize isn’t the money – it’s the VRS points.
