Furia was one of the standouts of the BLAST Austin Major, working its way through two group stages which included an impressive 3-0 Stage 3 run. Astralis wasn’t actually in the major, but got second-place finishes in the surrounding Fissure Playground 1 and PGL Astana tournaments. Both teams scored key wins in the first round of the IEM Cologne play-in stage, and now they’re set to decide which will earn a fast pass to the group stage.

Astralis vs Furia in-depth team, match analysis
Astralis failed to qualify for the BLAST Austin Major in a turn that was highly unbecoming of the organization. While anyone that has watched Counter-Strike esports for the last few years is very, very aware that the Astralis dynasty has been scattered to the wind, it still felt odd to see the team fall short of qualifying for a major even if it’s not the first time.
The organization seemingly recognized this and made a big change by adding HooXi as the team’s new in-game leader. Though IEM Cologne is just his third event with the team, all signs point to this being a great move.

Astralis notched a second-place run in PGL Astana ahead of the major, a run that included wins over NaVi and Aurora Gaming. It proved that was no fluke in Fissure Playground 1, getting another second-place finish in the tournament. The sample size is still small, but the team has posted wins over teams that are seemingly stronger than Furia at this time.
Granted, the strength of Furia is still not fully known yet. The top-eight run in the major counts for something but the team’s current roster hasn’t consistently won its best-of-three matches against credible opponents. The fact that it took back-to-back losses against SAW makes it difficult to buy into the team at this point, literally or figuratively.

Map pool
- Astralis has won 60% or more of its matches in 2025 across Nuke, Inferno, and Ancient. It’s fine everywhere else, save Dust 2 where the team has an ugly 5-10 record.
- Furia’s best map this year by a wide margin has been Train, where it has gone 10-4 so far. It’s hovering near the 50% mark almost everywhere else, except for being well below .500 on Mirage.
- Astralis’ permaban was Anubis, but Anubis has been removed from the map rotation in favor of Overpass. Furia was effectively permabanning Ancient, but that may have changed with Furia breaking the map out against SAW just a week ago.

Astralis vs Furia betting picks and predictions
Both teams look better after their roster changes, but Astralis has gotten more wins against better competition. Astralis certainly isn’t invincible, as demonstrated by Tyloo, but it has shown more than enough to get the nod here.
Best picks
- Astralis wins @ 1.68 – Astralis isn’t guaranteed to win this match, but it’s more likely than not and more likely than this 1.68 line would suggest.
- Astralis wins 2-0 @ 2.99 – The addition of Overpass to the map pool is an X factor, but Astralis’ relative strength on Nuke, Inferno, and Ancient compared with Furia only having one particularly strong map makes a 2-0 score more likely.
- Total rounds under 19.5 on map 1/2 @ 3.40 – Furia and Astralis are both teams that are capable of seizing and converting that into a quick win. There’s good value in this line, even if it’s a comparatively risky play.
