Controversial streamer and room cleaner Asmongold has responded to public claims that other OTK members should cut ties with him.
Despite being a founding member of OTK, Asmongold stepped down from his leadership role in late 2024 following some particularly unpopular comments about overseas conflicts. At the time, he said he “didn’t care” what happened to some participants in an ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict and calling some involved “inferior” to others. Asmongold is no stranger to offering shocking comments about video games and other aspects of digital culture, but this appeared to be a bridge too far for a some in the streaming community.
Despite his stepping down from his leadership role, many OTK members still associate with Asmongold, doing streams with him and creating content together. Now, OTK streamer Cinna is urging the remaining members to not work with Asmongold anymore.
During a livestream conversation in a car, Cinna said that Asmongold was harming OTK and its members with his ongoing drama and antics on Twitch and elsewhere, and that members should disengage from him due to his continued controversies. This would especially be tough for Emily “Emiru” Schunk, who gains a lot of viewers from Asmongold’s raids and audience.
“I think if you are tied to… For example, if I had five employees and I am saying a bunch of crazy s— and it cost those employees their jobs… If he doesn’t care, we need to have a different conversation about his actions,” Cinna said. “Because he’s being so out of pocket.”
Asmongold’s community caught wind of the drama and decided to ask the World of Warcraft player what he thought about Cinna’s comments during his own livestream.
“I’m making content and I have multiple channels getting over 100 million views a month. if I spent all my time dealing with every single person who tripped about me, that’s all I’d be doing,” Asmongold said. “It’s not important to me what other people’s perceptions are or their approval of what I’m saying is…the main thing I focus on is my own content.”
He called the statement “bulls—” and reiterated that it “doesn’t matter.” Asmongold said he’d listen to constructive feedback, but comments by Cinna apparently did not make the cut.
“I’m doing better than ever…nobody ever hardly on Twitch or online has access to opportunities like I do. That’s because of you guys,” Asmongold said. “So why do I want to waste your time dealing with people chirping about it? Who cares? Unless it’s funny, what’s the point?”
He further claimed that he did not watch the clip in question in which Cinna recommended that OTK members stop associating with him, and he generally seemed uninterested in the idea that he might leave OTK.
The streaming community reacted with mixed opinions, with some believing that Asmongold was in the right to ignore his “haters” while others felt he should be more willing to listen to people’s concerns about his points of view. Regardless, it’s unlikely this is the last batch of Twitch drama that Asmongold finds himself in the midst of, and seems unlikely that the streamer is going to leave OTK any time soon.
