All Dota 2 TI Winners in History

Every year, Valve hosts an iteration of The International, with the exception of 2020, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here is a list of all the best Dota 2 teams who have entered the game’s history.

The International 1 – Natus Vincere

The first ever edition of The International was won by Eastern European squad NAVI. In this lineup, you’ll see players who would become Dota 2 legends, like Dendi and Puppey.

The International 2 – Invictus Gaming

Chinese Dota was on the rise in 2012, with Invictus Gaming taking home the title. NAVI made it to the grand final again, but couldn’t find their second victory.

The International 3 – Alliance

The International 3 featured one of the best TI grand finals to date. Alliance won the tournament with their cheeky Rat Dota strategy. For the third time in a row, NAVI made it to the TI finals but failed once again.

TI3 was also the first tournament that introduced the concept of crowdfunding called the Compendium. This resulted in a huge injection to the prize pool.

The International 4 – Newbee

The Dota 2 Compendium system was in full effect for TI4, with the prize pool exceeding $10 million for the first time in esports history. Chinese squad Newbee emerged victorious, taking home over $5 million.

The International 5 – Evil Geniuses

16-year-old prodigy SumaiL carried Evil Geniuses at TI5, helping North America win its first TI. This was also the iteration of the famous “$6 million Echo Slam.”

The International 6 – Wings Gaming

China won its third title at TI6, when Wings Gaming demolished all competition. They took down Digital Chaos in the final to win almost $10 million.

The International 7 – Team Liquid

TI7 allowed some of the best Dota 2 players in history to win their deserved TI title. Names such as Miracle-, KuroKy, and MATUMBAMAN became legends of the scene.

The International 8 – OG

OG produced one of esports’ greatest stories at TI8. The team had their roster shattered months before the tournament. Despite coming into TI8 as the lowest-ranked team, OG used the power of friendship to win TI8.

The International 9 – OG

OG’s carry player ana took an extended break after their TI8 win, but returned to the team right before TI9. The team once again entered the tournament as underdogs and won the whole thing.

Not only did OG become the first two-time TI winners in history, but they also did it back-to-back with the exact same roster.

The International 10 – Team Spirit

Unfortunately, Valve had to cancel TI10 in 2020 due to COVID-19. They hosted the tournament the year after, with the prize pool breaking past $40 million. Until today, this is the largest prize pool in esports history.

Team Spirit made an incredible underdog run, winning $18 million! The players automatically became some of the richest Dota 2 players after this single win.

The International 11 – Tundra Esports

TI10’s $40 million prize pool was unbeatable, and the money in TI events started declining starting 2022. Tundra Esports were able to win the tournament with their cheesy, aura-oriented strategies.

The International 12 – Team Spirit

Team Spirit became the second team to win two TI titles, doing so at TI12. Still, they swapped out mid-laners in the process, so only four of the players became two-time winners.

The International 13 – Team Liquid

Team Liquid had one of the most dominant runs in TI history at TI13, not dropping a single map throughout the entire playoffs. If you had been watching the Dota 2 betting odds and backing Team Liquid throughout the event, you would’ve been rich!

33 also entered the two-time TI winning club at this event. He became the first player to win TI twice with two completely different lineups.

The International 14 – Team Falcons

The most recent TI winners were Team Falcons, who took down Xtreme Gaming 3-2 in the grand final of TI14. Skiter and Sneyking lifted their second Aegis, while Cr1t finally won the title after a decade of trying.
