This year’s Worlds is starting with the play-in stage, with round 1 pitting Furia vs MVK Esports and Cloud9 vs Karmine Corp, and both matches have varying odds and predictions.

It isn’t a stretch to say that the 2026 League of Legends World Championship is the largest esports event of the year. Countless fans tune in to root for their favorite teams or players, and the uncertainty of which team will come out on top ensures constant entertainment.

This year’s event will start with the play-in stage that’ll pit four teams against each other. The first round may not have elimination on the line, but the winning teams will have a major advantage going forward. Here are the LoL betting odds and our expert predictions for both of the matches in this round.

Furia vs MVK Esports at 2026 Worlds

MatchFuria vs MVK Esports – Worlds 2026
Start timeOctober 15, 2026, at 7:00 PM ET
Our pickFuria to win, under 3.5 maps
Betting favoriteFuria

Furia may be coming off of a devastating defeat against LOUD in the CBLOL lower-bracket final, but the team definitely has upset potential. Tatu and Tutsz have excellent mid-jungle coordination that has won them multiple games, and Guigo’s side-lane pressure is a constant threat, especially for teams that aren’t too strong.

While MVK Esports has skilled players, the team suffers from a lack of consistency. Gury is the team’s most consistent player, but Furia should have the experience to know how to shut him down. MVK’s best chance of success could be to get early leads by forcing fights and acquiring early objectives, but that strategy may not work too well in a drawn-out best-of-five series.

☑️ My Take

Both teams are fairly inexperienced, at least on an international level, but Furia has showcased the skill needed to capitalize on mistakes that MVK is very likely to make. While banking on MVK to get some early objectives could be a good idea, Furia has a decent chance of winning all three games to move to the next round with an advantage. Because of this, taking the under on 3.5 maps could be the way to go.

Cloud9 vs Karmine Corp at 2026 Worlds

MatchTeam Liquid vs LYON – LCS 2026
Start timeOctober 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM EDT
Our pickCloud9 to win, over 4.5 maps
Betting favoriteKarmine Corp

This is the match that most fans are anticipating, and it makes sense why. Both teams started the year strong but continued to stumble as their respective domestic teams started picking up. Cloud9 has shown immense improvement recently, especially with Blaber’s early-game pressure. Thanatos has high carry potential and can comfortably support his team when they’re being aggressive, but Cloud9’s lack of game-ending potential is what usually causes it to lose.

Karmine Corp 2026 Worlds roster

Karmine Corp has much more international experience than Cloud9, but the team struggles to adapt to its enemy. The LEC third seed clearly relies too much on its bottom lane, which frequently results in the team losing. Yike may be a reliable jungler, but he’ll have to work overtime if he wants KC to avoid the lower bracket.

☑️ My Take

Cloud9 and Karmine Corp both have good talent and greater experience than the other teams in the play-ins. While it’ll likely be closer than expected, Cloud9 has a very real chance of causing an upset. The team will want to be more aggressive than the LEC team and take any early objectives it can, but there’s a strong chance that the match could go the distance. Taking the over on 4.5 maps could be a good idea, especially considering the higher potential return.
